CSER Fundamentals F-6 Digital Technologies course re-launches!

We haveĀ partnered with Google and Digital Careers Australia to provide primary and secondary school teachers with free, online professional development in Computer Science and Computational Thinking via a series of online courses. These courses are developed around theĀ Australian Curriculum: Technologies, to provide teachers with the support they need to implement this new subject area into the classroom.

The course features disciplinary content, practical classroom ideas and numerous resources that can be easily integrated into the classroom context. What is unique about this course is the focus on community. In designing the course, we wanted to highlight and draw on the expertise, knowledge and passion that Australian educators hold and so we invited teachers to share resources, ideas and experiences in an online Google+ community, as part of their assessment. This has resulted in a rich and dynamic suite of around 3,000 resources! So far, we have delivered over 40,000 hours of professional development across Australia!

We would like to announce the re-launch of our F-6 Fundamentals course on the 31st of July, 2015. We also have a “Next Steps”, years 7 & 8 course that is currently running (developed around a series of exciting project themes, such as Robotics, Apps, Games, Data Visualisation and Makerspace). We also have an Advanced F-6 MOOC, on the horizon that is launching at the end of the year!

These course are self-paced and teachers can request a certificate upon completion. To register and view our courses, visit: csdigitaltech.appspot.com
