CSER welcomes our team for South Australia: Karen Butler and Ben Jucius

CSER welcomes our team of Project Officers for South Australia, who are job sharing our Project Officer role.

KarenButlerLKaren Butler is an educator currently on secondment to the Learning Improvement Division in DECD, South Australia. Karen is currently a Project Officer for Primary Years Learners focussing on Learning Technologies, and is very interested in ways to ensure all learners have opportunities to be critical, creative and active producers as well as consumers of information and communication technologies. For this reason Karen has developed a keen interest in Computer Science and how it can be integrated into exciting learning for students from reception to year 7.

Karen has spent most of her 30 years as a teacher educating 11 and 12 year olds, but started in junior primary. Teaching remains her passion and she enjoys working within a community of learners interested in changing the world through empowering pedagogy.

benjuciusLHi I’m Ben. I live on the Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia with my wife and two kids. I have been a Specialist Digital Technologies teacher for the last 10 years at Victor Harbor R-7 School. We’ve chosen to live on the Fleurieu as it is an awesome lifestyle: quiet and cool in the Winter and fun and sunny in the Summer. I love teaching Digital Technology as it is engaging, changing and allows me to meet a diverse range of people. I’m excited to be a part of the Computer Science Educational Research team helping teachers to help kids using Digital Technologies.

If you are in South Australia and would like to contact Karen or Ben to arrange a free professional learning event for your school or community, please register your contact details here.
