Want a paid Engineering Work Placement in the Dynamic Defence and National Security Industry?

The exciting opportunity continues for 3rd and 4th year (or equivalent) engineering students and Small to Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) to participate in the well-regarded Defence Engineering Internship Program (DEIP). The Program is once again being funded by the Department of Defence.

Over the past five rounds the Program has increased engineering students’ interest in the defence industry, particularly with SMEs. From 2012 to 2016, DEIP has paired 30 selected engineering students each year with defence industry SMEs from around Australia with outstanding results. The national program will continue in 2017/18 with internships for another 30 engineering students. To be eligible for the internship, students must be Australian citizens, eligible for a security clearance and enrolled in an engineering degree with an Australian university.

DEIP provides defence SMEs with the opportunity to market defence industry as an innovative, interesting and viable career path to engineering students. After five rounds of the program, 42% of the interns have gained employment in Defence in the two years after the internship. Eligible students are invited to submit an online application to be considered for a 12-week internship. Successful applicants will be remunerated at the rate of $800 per completed week for the 12 weeks of placement. Only 30 positions are available nationally.

Placements are managed by AITEC, an experienced educational project management organisation.

Online applications will be open 11 Sept – 8 Oct 2017
