e-Science. Underground archives: Naracoorte fossil caves and their record of deeptime

The work of Dr Liz Reed has been featured in the July 2015 e-Science Magazine.

In the feature, Dr Reed explores how the fossils found in Naracoorte Caves in South Australia can be used to address present and future conservation questions about species diversification, human impacts, adaption to climate change and extinction.

“Sediments, bones and other materials accumulate over time to form deep, stratified (layered) deposits. Each layer is like a chapter in a book, providing insight into the animals, plants and environment near the cave and how they have changed over thousands of years.”
