eScience. Fuelling the Future

fuelling the futureCarbon dioxide has an unquestionable role in climate change and yet, quantities of this greenhouse gas are steadily increasing. Humans emit more carbon dioxide than plants can absorb and therefore, finding new technologies to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere remains an important goal.

Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are a new type of material with immense gas storage capabilities. These materials may one day be able to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, mitigating the effects of climate change.

Dr Kenji Sumida and PhD student Oliver Linder-Patton explain the technology of MOFs in the final issue of eScience.
