Splitrec Workshop: ‘Collective Authorship – How Do You Create The Experimental With Others’

Geoffrey Barnard, Jim Denley, Amanda Stewart, Cor Fuhler, Dale Gorfinkel, and Peter Farrar represent an unbroken line of experimentation in music from the Sydney scene.

Barnard was working in the early 1970s with Teletopa, Denley and Stewart were with the seminal Machine for Making Sense, Fuhler is a vastly experienced improvisor/composer from Holland, and Gorfinkel and Farrar represent the younger generation -both deeply involved and experienced.

Participants will be asked to contribute to playing in groups and to discussing methodologies and philosophies to do with collective music making. Participants will need to bring a ‘sound making’ device – acoustic, electric, electronic other…
