The award was presented at the annual Student Service Centres conference in Canberra and your Hub won the Customer Service Benchmarking Australia (CSBA) 2013 Award for Excellence in Telephone Customer Service.  You’ll be pleased to know that we were the best Go8 university in the line-up.

Our award is down to both our great students and of course our dedicated staff who all work tirelessly for you in order that you gain the most out of your university experience.

CSBA have been assessing the customer service of over 250 Australian organisations to understand, measure and improve their business for decades. This is the second year that the Professions Student Hub has been involved in the telephone customer service benchmarking program and demonstrates and we are thrilled that we walked away with the gong this year.

On Thursday, 4 April 2013, the School of Economics held their Prize Award ceremony for top-performing Economics students.  Donors, friends and family were in attendance to congratulate the 2012 Prize Winners on their outstanding achievements in Economics.

The special guest for this year’s Prize Award Ceremony was Economics alumnus Tim Harcourt.  Tim is a Graduate with the University of Adelaide with a Major in Economics. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of International Business Strategy at the University of New South Wales and an advisor to the Government of South Australia in international engagement.  Tim is also a prolific writer and is author of the “The Airport Economist” which is a top bestseller for business books in Australia.

John Cresswell Scholarship for the Bachelor of Economics

One scholarship valued at $3,000 for one year will be available to a commencing student enrolled in the single degree Bachelor of Economics program at the University of Adelaide.

SA Water Undergraduate Scholarships in Commerce (Accounting)

SA Water is providing one scholarship to a continuing student undertaking a program of study in the Faculty of the Professions within the field of Commerce (Accounting) at the University of Adelaide leading up to accreditation for the CPA (Certified Practicing Accountant) qualification. The value of the scholarship is $2,500 per annum and will be offered to a student who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia.  Indigenous students are encouraged to apply.

SA Water Undergraduate Scholarships in Economics

SA Water is providing one scholarship to a continuing student undertaking the Bachelor of Economics program at the University of Adelaide.  Students undertaking double degrees are NOT eligible to apply.

The Mason Family Scholarship: Education

The Mason Family Scholarship in the Communication of Science is open to students enrolling in:

2) The Master of Education (Science and Technology), provided the student is a qualified teacher of science in schools who is seeking improved qualifications.

You will be given the chance to network with professionals in your field and hear from the experts to see where your degree can take you. CPA Australia are looking for two Student Ambassadors for 2013.

As a CPA Australia Student Ambassador, you will:

1) Promote CPA Australia’s global student network, the CPA Passport Program.
2) Encourage students to participate in ‘The Naked CEO’ and ‘CPA Big Break Project’.
3) Act as a liaison between CPA Australia and university students.
4) Assist at CPA Australia events & lecture presentations on-campus and externally.
5) Distribute promotional material and promote events organised for students.

The IBP-R aims to:

• provide induction into the academic, linguistic and cultural conventions relating to postgraduate research in the students own disciplines and paradigms
• foster students agency and autonomy in negotiating research and language outcomes
• develop independent communication skills and proficiency in English appropriate to the students own area of specialisation
• develop techniques of citing and attribution to express critical perspective
•  develop spoken English and presentation skills for communicating research
