Local Government Price Index: December quarter 2014

Results for the December quarter 2014 of the Local Government Price Index (LGPI) have been released today. The LGPI measures price movements faced by Local Government in South Australia in respect of their purchases of goods and services.

The latest LGPI data incorporates updated expenditure weights for the 2013/14 financial year.

The LGPI rose by 0.3 per cent in the December quarter of 2014. In comparison, the Adelaide Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures price changes faced by households in respect of their purchases of goods and services, also rose by 0.3 per cent in the December quarter.

Looking at changes over the year, the LGPI in the December quarter 2014 was up 1.9 per cent compared to the December quarter 2013, while the Adelaide CPI rose by 1.7 per cent over this period.
