Outstanding Achievements By New Alumni Medallists

The Faculty of Sciences is extremely proud to have not one but TWO of our graduates as the recipients of the University of Adelaide Alumni Medallists for 2014!

Congratulations to Simon Blacket who was awarded the 2014 Honours Alumni University Medal.
Simon graduated with an outstanding undergraduate record! He not only attained a GPA of 7 and received high distinctions for every subject he undertook, he also completed a Triple Major – a Double Major in Chemistry and a Major in Applied Mathematics – in his Bachelor of Science (Nanoscience and Materials) degree. Wow!

The 2014 Postgraduate Alumni University was awarded to Krista Sumby who was recently conferred the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Sciences.  Krista was nominated along with other nominees from across the university. This prestigious award recognises Krista with achieving outstanding academic merit. Her candidature resulted in five research papers and one review published in leading journals in the field. lt is exceptional for a student to publish six papers during PhD candidature in this field – her project examined the esterase enzymes of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) associated with wine-making. Congratulations Dr Krista Sumby on this fantastic achievement!
