Faculty of Health Sciences Research Travel Awards

Applications are now open for two Faculty initiatives to support travel by eligible FHS staff and HDR students.

Faculty of Health Sciences Research Travel Awards
The intention of the Research Travel Awards is to facilitate international and interstate travel for research purposes. The awards might be used for field work necessary for the research project, conference attendance or conference presentations, or travel to gather research data or learn a specific technique.

In 2015, two awards of $750 will be offered via a competitive process for
A Higher Degree by Research student (HDR) ,
An Early Career Researcher (ECR) (less than five years post award of PhD. An extension of this period may be considered if absence from research work due to parental leave can be demonstrated.)

Faculty of Health Sciences Dependant Travel Fund
The Faculty of Health Sciences and the University Gender Equity and Diversity Committee have established a Dependant Travel Fund ($3000 in total) to support staff who have caring responsibilities to participate in a conference held overseas or within Australia. The purpose of the fund is to allow staff to have young children or other dependants accompany them when travelling and to employ or support travel of a carer.

At least one award of up to $3,000 is available in 2015; all funding received must be spent by 30 June 2016.

The closing date for both schemes is 30 November 2015. Applications are to be submitted to Kate Chadwick in the FHS Research Secretariat.
