Mr Ian Will is the Business Manager of the ACVT at the University of Adelaide and has 30 years experience in research, technology and business management. Previously with Tenix Defence in the role of Product & Innovation Manager, he was responsible for the management of R&D and product commercialisation activities for the Electronic Systems Division (ESD) of Tenix Defence, developing and managing an R&D portfolio in excess of $25M. He was a member of the ESD Board of Management, chaired the divisional Product Management Board and represented the division on the group wide Engineering Council.

Emigrating to Australia in 1993 after 10 years in the UK Defence industry with GEC-Marconi, he joined Vision Abell (acquired by the Tenix Group and becoming ESD in 2000) as a senior engineer and held a variety of roles in the areas of design and program management. He was responsible for managing Tenix’s involvement in a multi-million Dollar US-Australian government collaborative R&D program in the field of Electronic Warfare, bidding, winning and delivering over $30M in contracts. As part of his role managing the Electro-Optics group within the company, he represented the organisation on the Board of Governors of the Photonics CRC. He was also responsible for the commercialisation of a family of Threat Simulation products that has been successfully exported around the world. He has served on the board of the South Australian Centre for Innovation (SACFII). He has a BSc in Electronic & Electrical Engineering and an MBA.
