ERA results confirm ACVT a world leader

The Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) results have been released, and show the ACVT in a very good light.

The ERA initiative assesses research quality within Australia’s higher education institutions using a combination of indicators and expert review by committees comprising experienced, internationally-recognised experts.  Each area is represented by a code number, and the research within that area within an institution is assessed over the given census period.

The majority of the research carried out within the ACVT falls within the 4 digit code 0801 (Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing).  The university of Adelaide received a ranking of 4 out of 5 in this area in the most recent results.  Only ANU received a 5 in 0801, and only 2 other institutions (out of Australia’s 36 universities) received a 4.

This is a very positive result for the ACVT particularly given that The University of Adelaide is significantly smaller than it’s nearest competitors.

The outputs measured in 0801 include some generated by researchers outside of the ACVT, but the ACVT was by far the largest contributor.
