PhD Scholarships in Visual SLAM and Computer/Robotic Vision and Machine Learning for Visual Recognition

The Australian Centre for Visual Technologies (ACVT) at The University of Adelaide has 12 PhD scholarships available for both local and international students interested in pursuing a PhD. These Scholarships are funded from an ARC Laureate Fellowship to Prof Ian Reid entitled “Lifelong Computer Vision Systems”, and an ARC Centre of Excellence in Robotic Vision, with Investigators Prof Reid, Prof Chunhua Shen, Dr Gustavo Carneiro and Prof Anon Van den Hengel.

The ACVTs is one of the most successful groups in its research area in the world.  The newly created scholarships provide an opportunity to join a large and diverse group of academics, postdocs and students, interacting with a world-class set of researchers.

Each Scholarship provides a full stipend (currently AU$25,392) and generous travel allocance to facilitate travel to other nodes in the Centre of Excellence (QUT, Monash and ANU, as well as international partners University of Oxford, Imperial College, ETH Zurich, INRIA Rennes, and Georgia Tech).

In addition a limited number of fee waiver scholarships are available for suitably qualified candidates.

Successful applicants will hold or be close to completing an Honours or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics (or related area), at 1st class or 2A (2:1) level (or equivalent), with a demonstrable project/research component.

To be eligible for a fee waiver scholarship, international applicants must satisfy the University’s English language requirements and have achieved a 1st class standard (or equivalent) in their degree(s).
