All Rhodes lead to Waite

More than a decade after winning a Rhodes Scholarship, Natalie Betts is rediscovering her passion for genetics and science in the world-renowned ARC Centre of Excellence in Plant Cell Walls.

Dr Betts has spent the past 12 months working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Waite Campus after an 11-year hiatus from the laboratory while raising her family and working as a management consultant.

She is part of a wider team focusing on altering soluble fibre levels in grain to maximise its health benefits for both humans and animals, as well as aiding industry in such areas as beer production and bioethanol production.

In this video, Dr Betts discusses her undergraduate studies at the University of Adelaide where she gained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in 1995, winning the Rhodes Scholarship to study in Oxford and her current work at the Waite Campus.
