China-Australia Sustainable Research Unit (CASRU)

The School of Architecture and Built Environment has recently established China-Australia Sustainable Research Unit (CASRU) in collaboration with The School of Economics and Management, North China Electric Power University (NCEPU), Beijing, China. The agreement was signed on 18 October 2013 in Beijing by The Executive Dean of Faculty of the Professions, Professor Christopher Findlay, and the Dean of School of Economics and Management, NCEPU, Professor Dong-Xiao Niu.

CASRU aims to promote cross cultural research across the Chinese and Australian Construction Industries and to improve the international competitiveness of the Construction Industry in both Australia and China. Specifically, through its work CASRU endeavours to:
1. Undertake joint international research projects involving both countries
2. Jointly apply for research grants in the Australian and Chinese research frameworks
3. Undertake a series of comparison studies between sectors of the Australian and Chinese construction industries
4. Host exchange study tours from member universities or industry from both countries
5. Promote industry accessibility to both countries underpinned by sound research
6. Host Exchange research staff
7. Host Exchange research students
8. Facilitate research scholarships
9. Undertake joint PhD programmes
