Urban Ecosystem design Lab (elective) – for 1st year Masters students

The URBAN ECOSYSTEM DESIGN LAB is an experimental research unit in the framework of the School of Architecture and Built Environment of the University of Adelaide.
Expressions of Interest are now open for the 2017 Interdisciplinary Joint Urban Design studio (IJUD) – COHABIT THE PORT ADELAIDE RIVER

This year, within the frame of the Electives courses, we are offering a unique opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team of students coming from Strasbourg, France. The IJUD studio – Cohabit the Port Adelaide River is a project of the Urban Ecosystem design Lab, School of Architecture and Built Environment of the University of Adelaide, in cooperation with the School of Architecture and the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Strasbourg
The studio will take place at the Hart’s Mill Flour Shed in Port Adelaide from the 10th to the 19th of April and will be sponsored by the South Australia Department of State Development, Renewal SA, the Office of Design and Architecture of South Australia (ODASA) and the City of Port Adelaide-Enfield. The studio is part of a series of public events, including a students’ projects exhibition and several lectures.

We will involve a group of 20/25 Master’s students of the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) and the School of Economics in Adelaide (ECIC), Master’s students from the School of Architecture and School of Economics of the University of Strasbourg, and students from Tongji University, which will work together on a common Urban Design proposal.  The students will share their different backgrounds (Australia, France and China) and diverse expertise (Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Project Management and Urban Economics) to work collaboratively on a common project proposal for the areas of the Lefevre Peninsula and Port Adelaide River.

We will hold an information session in Hughes 309, Hughes Lecture Theatre, on Thursday the 2nd of March 2017 at 5pm.

In order to participate you will need to submit an Expression of Interest with your transcript (as one PDF) by 9am Friday 17/03/2017 to Mr. Clem Low, Student Adviser, School of Architecture & Built Environment (; Tel. 831 35877).

Please contact the course coordinator or Mr. Clem Low as soon as possible to express your interest, since the number of places available is limited.
