Forensic Science: History and Perspective
Saturday 4 July 2015 at 2pm
Professor Adrian Linacre, Flinders University
The legal systems of Europe date back to Angol-Saxon times when legal rights for the common man, many of which are still with us today, were first laid down.
This talk brings the history of forensic science up to more recent times with the advent of basic science as applied to law and how developments in science were incorporated into the legal systems of Europe. Many of the developments date from the turn of the last century, often in fiction first.
The talk culminates with the advances of DNA profiling and provides some thoughts to the future.
