No campaign in the military history of Australia has generated as many myths as Gallipoli. Here are some: the Anzacs landings were the critical event on 25 April, the troops were landed in the wrong place, the landing was one of the bloodiest episodes in Australian history, a later plan in August came within an ace of success, that plan was ruined by British Generals, the Campaign was a great lost opportunity to shorten the war. The above all have one thing in common – they are wrong. Come along and hear why.
