Thinking Clearly about Suicide in India

Peter Mayer’s recently published article has been mentioned by BBC correspondent Soutik Biswas in his most recent blog post. The article discusses the comparative media coverage in India of farmer and housewife suicides. Though there are more than three housewife suicides for every one of a farmer, they receive almost no media attention.

The article also draws attention to the need to develop effective suicide prevention programmes in India.
