Inaugural APRA-AMCOS Art Music Fund Award: Dan Thorpe

Congratulations to Elder Conservatorium of Music student Dan Thorpe who is the only South Australian recipient of an inaugural APRA-AMCOS Art Music Fund Award for art music composers.
Ten awards were made from over 100 applications.

The APRA-AMCOS Art Music Fund, with a prize pool of $100,000, was established to provide much-needed support for classical, jazz and experimental composers to compose and perform their works. Successfully-funded composers are expected to collaborate with ensembles, orchestras, producers, broadcasters, recording companies, festivals and other parties to propose the composition of a work that will be guaranteed multiple exposures by way of performances, recordings, broadcasts or digital dissemination. The Award is open to Australian and New Zealand composers and grant amounts are between AUD$10,000 and $30,000.

Dan completed his BMus Hons in Sonic Arts at the Elder Conservatorium in 2013. Now in the final year of his Master of Music degree, he is currently overseas for performances of his work.

Well done, Dan!
