A new overseas intensive, Shakespeare at the Globe, is scheduled to run in the mid-semester break in semester 2, 2017.
In the course, up to 20 students will attend performances of Shakespeare plays scheduled for production at the Globe theatre in London and at theatres in Stratford-upon-Avon. While on location, students will also undertake a series of intensive seminars and visit buildings and cultural institutions relevant to the study of Shakespeare in London and Stratford. The course is designed to enhance students understanding of Shakespeare in performance, and of the cultural conditions that inform and help shape early modern English drama, and contribute to its enduring contemporary relevance.
Shakespeare at the Globe is available to students who have, or will have in 2017, successfully completed the semester-based Shakespeare course (at level 1 prior to 2017, and at level 2 from semester 1, 2017). Associate Professor Lucy Potter has been awarded a 2017 Endeavour Short Term Mobility Grant to financially assist up to 10 students from disadvantaged backgrounds to study the course.
More information will be available in semester 1, 2017, and enrolments will be managed by the Global Learning Office. In the meantime, please register your interest by emailing Lucy: firstname.lastname@example.org.
