CDIT Summer Intern – Integration of Video Streaming within MODPIE

Josiah Saunders has recently completed his CDIT Summer Internship, working on integrating video streaming capabilities within the MODPIE performance prediction environment.

The MODPIE environment supports early performance prediction of distributed software systems, through the construction of performance models for the distributed software system that may be executed above realistic deployment scenarios. This enables the gathering of early performance information to guide the design of suitable deployment platforms, and to gather early insight into real time performance constraints.

As aspect of this work is to provide realistic data payloads for the distributed system. Over the summer, Josiah worked on integrating video streaming using the raspberry pi as a data source for the MODPIE environment. This will enable us to model new areas of defence-related systems where streamed data, and video data are crucial for understanding performance.
