Year 10 students experience Chinese language and Culture at the Confucius Institute

The CESA Year 10 Tertiary Languages Program offers students of Chinese in Catholic schools the opportunity to attend 2 days of Chinese language and culture classes at the University of Adelaide. The focus is also on letting the students know about possible pathways related to language learning and it is hoped that the program will encourage students to continue with their language studies at post compulsory and tertiary levels. Professor Mobo Gao welcomed the students and emphasised the importance of learning a second language and understanding a culture.

The classroom hands-on activities were particularly popular; especially the Chinese knotting taught by CI teacher Li Kang and the Chinese rap class conducted by Li Xiaojiao. Other activities included a language class in Chinese Slang and also a scavenger hunt around the University grounds.
