4 July Public Lecture: Australia as a Middle Power in the Asian Century

On 4 July 2014, the Confucius Institute at the University of Adelaide, Flinders University (Centre for US & Asia Policy Studies), Australia China Young Professional Initiative (SA) and Young Australians in International Affairs, hosted a  public lecture with the 2013 Fulbright Flinders University Distinguished Chair in American Political Science, Professor Victoria A. Farrar– Myers.

Professor Farrar-Myers, Professor in Political Science and Distinguished Teaching Professor with The University of Texas-Arlington, came to Flinders University in Adelaide to under-take research into executive foreign policymaking with a particular emphasis within the Pacific Rim. The public lecture touched on Australia’s role as a middle power and how this influences its Asia-Pacific policy, with a strong emphasis on China. Professor Farrar-Myers also discussed America’s “rebalance” to Asia and how this affects the Australia-China relationship.
