Unearthed Hackathon awards recognise student and graduate talents

Both graduates and current students recently competed in the 2016 Unearthed Hackathon13254621_10157172020140495_7739694208335581685_n creating prototypes to solve challenges from the mining industry.

Team MinX (Daniel Camilleri, Konrad Janica, Tullie Murrell, Jack Gerrits) won the people’s choice award for their mineral composition analysis tool using a deep learning – convolutional neural network.

Graduate Xiaogang (Norm) Dong joined team Skunk Missile who were awarded 2nd prize for their “rapid, easy-to-use, in-field mineral composition analysis tool”
