New F-6 Extended CSER Digital Technologies MOOC Released

F-6 Extended MOOC

Our first F-6 Foundations in Digital Technologies Massively Open Online Course (MOOC) only just scratched the surface of algorithms and programming!

We have now released a new F-6 Digital Technologies: Extended MOOC.

In this extended course we introduce programming concepts and present ideas and resources (with and without technology) for how algorithmic thinking and programming can be integrated across the curriculum, using English and Mathematics as two example learning areas.

You will have opportunities to undertake practical activities, share ideas and view shared resources in our course Google+ community. Our community was a huge hit in the first course (with over 3,000 members and over 4,000 resources shared), and we look forward to working with educators in this new course to develop a new fresh community of ideas for introducing and teaching algorithmic thinking and programming across F-6.

Again, this course is is linked to the content descriptors in the Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies and teachers will receive a certificate upon completion. This course is self-paced and for each unit, we have allowed for around 2-4 hours of professional learning time.

If you are new to Digital Technologies or haven’t completed our first F-6 Foundations MOOC, we still recommend this as an excellent place to start.

You can find out more information about our F-6 Foundations course and our new F-6 Extended course on our CSER MOOCs website.

We look forward to working with you!
