Based in Adelaide, South Australia, the Company was formed in 2004 and listed on the Australian Securities Exchange on 31 July 2006 (ASX: LBT). The focus of the Company has been the commercialisation of its first product, known as MicroStreak®, an automated agar plate streaking system which enables microbiology laboratories to process samples several times faster than can be done manually by a technician.

In 2007, LBT Innovations signed an agreement with French diagnostics giant bioMérieux to commercialise and market this invention, which is now known as PREVI™ Isola. This instrumentation product comprises a central part of bioMérieux’s FMLA™ (Full Microbiology Lab Automation™) strategy.
