Work Placement for Engineering Students – Defence Engineering Internship Program 2015

The Defence Engineering Internship Program (DEIP), a Commonwealth Government initiative sponsored by the Department of Defence, assists engineering undergraduate students with work placements in Small to Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) that are supporting the Australian defence and national security industry.

Designed to increase engineering students’ level of interest and participation in the defence industry, in particular SMEs, the DEIP will pair 30 selected third or fourth year (or full-time equivalent) engineering students with selected defence industry SMEs from around Australia for a 12-week placement.

To be eligible for the internship, students must be Australian citizens and eligible for a security clearance, if required. Participating students will receive financial support for undertaking their placement with a defence SME.

Applications open Monday 20 July, and close Sunday 16 August 2015. Applications must be lodged online. For more information, visit

Placements will be managed by AITEC, an experienced educational project management organisation.
