Revisiting the Zero Carbon Challenge – Wednesday 25th September

The Adelaide Sustainable Building network is pleased to invite you to our next event in our 2013 ‘Tell and Show’ Series

A HOME WITH ZERO ENERGY BILLS IS NOT A DREAM, IT IS A REALITY.

Last year the Zero Carbon Challenge was an initiative set up by the South Australian Urban Renewal Authority in partnership with the Integrated Design Commission (IDC) of South Australia to engage the architectural, development and construction industries in designing a ‘zero carbon’ house which would create a new environmental and performance benchmark for main stream housing. The challenge was unique as the overall aim was to ensure that the house was designed to offset all embodied and operating emissions within a period of 50 years. The construction of the Zero Carbon Challenge’s winning entry, lead by the TS4 Sustainable Living group, has recently been completed and has begun its journey toward balancing its carbon footprint and serve as a model for future housing in South Australia.

The architects of the Zero Carbon Challenge winning design, Brett Aylen and Paul Hendy of TS4 Architecture, will be joining us to give us insight into the design and construction of their ‘zero carbon’ home.

There will be a Q&A forum following Brett and Paul’s presentation to allow further discussion about any facets of the building.
