Welfare to Wellbeing: Australian Educations Significant Opportunity.

On Wednesday 4th October the School of Education was proud to host the 2017 Kevin Marjoribanks Oration. The school had the pleasure of presenting Assoc Professor Mathew A. White for this event. The title of Mathew’s talk was “Welfare to Wellbeing: Australian Education’s Significant Opportunity.

On the night we were pleased to host Mrs Jan Marjoribanks as our honoured guest. Other guests included Mrs Margaret Secombe, Mr Peter Routley, Mr Brian Ward and Mrs June Ward, Ms Caroline Hedley, Dr Jan Keightley,  Mr Robert Smedley and Prof Jennie Shaw.

Mathew provided a very informative talk, that highlighted the legacy of the late Professor Kevin Marjoribanks, previous Vice Chancellor and Head of Education, which included a recollection of his mentor, a brief history of Kevin’s early years at St Peters College and at the University of Adelaide. The talk,  “Welfare to Wellbeing: Australian Education’s Significant Opportunity”.drew parallels with the research and work of Kevin Marjoribanks. Past and current staff, old friends, alumni and students enjoyed the talk which stimulated a rich debate.
