A Hypothetical Forum: Fast Forward to 2050 – Water Scenarios for South Australia’s future

Have we done enough to secure our future water needs?

As part of National Water Week, the Goyder Institute of Water Research, in conjunction with the Adelaide Mt Lofty Ranges NRM Board, Australian Water Association, DEWNR, University of Adelaide, Flinders University and University of South Australia, invite you to participate in an exciting and interactive event discussing future water scenarios for South Australia. The event links with the 2014 National Water Week theme “Water Sources – there are more than you think!” A panel of key identities from the water industry and the wider community will be engaged in a lively discussion of hypothetical future scenarios for Adelaide to 2050 and beyond. Comedian, activist and climate change researcher, Rod Quantock, will host the event.

When: Thursday, October 23rd 5:45pm  for 6pm start

Forum Host- Rob Quantock

SA Hypothetical Forum Host Rod Quantock is an award-winning comedian who has been researching, writing and performing shows about climate change and sustainability for 10 years. He has given keynote addresses at university, academic, government and corporate conferences and has spoken at countless climate change and sustainability events for local government, the private sector, community groups and schools. Rod has read the literature and interviewed scientists and experts and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the background science, current research and the challenges and solutions for living on a finite planet. He understands that climate change isn’t the only issue. He talks about peak water, peal oil, peak food, peak money, peak everything. And he dares talk about the pachyderm in the parlour, peak population. Rod’s unique ability to mix the hard message with comedy overcomes one of the great challenges of climate action: Communication. From the carbon cycle to the looming resource crisis and population over-shoot, Rod brings clarity and honesty to the greatest issues of this or any other age – and makes you laugh about it. When he is not working as a freelance writer, performer and speaker he is a prominent environmental, social and political activist.
