Team Profile: Research Accounting

Every month our blog will feature a staff or team profile within Financial Services.  For the month of June, the team in focus is Research Accounting.

Team members: (from left to right) Maryke, Chelsea (Manager), Ting, Nicole and Kristeen. 

Combined years experience at the University: 25

Major responsibilities: providing research accounting support, establishment of research projects (within PS) and liaising with granting bodies to ensure their financial reporting requirements are met.

The team are also responsible for project code creation and allocation of research grants and externally funded PhD scholarships.  In 2011, over 650 project codes were established for new research grants and scholarships.

Some of the other duties include preparing financial statements/acquittals to show how research funds have been spent and invoicing sponsors in accordance with research agreements.  In 2011, the team raised more than 1500 invoices. 

In addition to the above, the team provides financial reporting, general advice on funding and recently have taken over PeopleSoft project code allocation and invoicing of contract research, analytical service, expert witness and consultancy income generated through agreements administered by Adelaide Research & Innovation Pty Ltd.
