From 1 August 2014, Australia will replace signature with PIN for Credit, Debit and Prepaid card purchases made in person. There will be no change to contactless, online transactions or the tap and go option.
Corporate (T&E) Visa Credit Card holders who currently don’t have a PIN activated on their card, should make arrangements to set one up as soon as possible.
How do I create a new PIN? Visit an ANZ Branch with photo identification.
Tips for setting a PIN:
- Don’t choose a number that’s easy for someone to guess – stay away from numbers based on your birth date, driver’s licence, phone numbers or other public/semi-public personal information as they can be easily guessed by fraudsters.
- Choose something unique to you – choose something easy for you to remember but hard for anyone else to guess.
- Protect it – after creating a memorable and secure PIN, it’s important to protect it. Don’t write your PIN down and don’t share your PIN with anyone.
If you feel your PIN has been compromised, notify the ANZ immediately on 1800 032 481.
