New Process for Claiming Car Allowance for Use of Private Motor Vehicles

Commencing this week, there is a new process for claiming a Car Allowance to compensate for the use of private motor vehicles whilst on University business.

Car allowance payments have previously been processed through the Finance System. Effective Saturday 14th of June 2014, these payments will be processed through the Human Resources branch.

From the 14th of June onwards, Car Allowance claim forms need to be submitted to Human Resources for payment by emailing the form to Processing timefames will be in line with standard HR schedules, as per the Human Resources Processing Timelines on the HR Website.

Please be aware that the University of Adelaide applies the Australian Taxation Office cents per kilometre rates. The rate applied is for a small car with an engine capacity that does not exceed 1600 cubic cm. This rate is currently $0.65 (65 cents) per kilometre of travel.
