Financial Services has been part of the University’s Internship Program for about 18 months. The program enables newly qualified students to gain valuable work experience with the practical tasks, but also exposure to an office environment and workplace culture. It is a process facilitated by Internship Coordinator, Jess Mills and after providing a brief to her with the qualities of intern required, Financial Services then selects and interviews for the most appropriate candidate.
Paul Thomas has worked 2 days per week over a period of 10 weeks over the year end period with Kathy Neale and he approached the work with enthusiasm and worked to standards exceeding expectation for his level.
Four interns from the Program have worked within the Research Accounting Team and there are currently 2 interns working two days per week. Kaustubh Patil originally an intern in 2014 was successful in securing employment for a fixed term within Research Accounting after his stint.
The calibre of the students has been so high that Financial Services will definitely consider this programme on an ongoing basis.
