Travellers are advised to register their travel with and monitor variations of travel advice prior to departure, particularly for countries such as Iran, where Australians may be at greater risk of arbitrary detention or arrest.  The Australian Government is not able to intervene in court proceedings or legal matters in Iran, so the ability to provide consular assistance is limited.
