RAID: engage, connect and support agricultural researchers working in international development

Global Food Studies proudly supports any programs and networks that help promote food security including this new Australian-based network called RAID. Dr Di Mayberry explained what the network is about.

Are you an early-mid career researcher working in agriculture for international development?

Maybe you’re interested in international ag and want to know how to get involved?

Or you might be a more experienced scientist with advice to offer the next generation.

If you fall into any of these categories, then RAID is the network for you!

Researchers in Agriculture for International Development (RAID) is a new Australian-based network that aims to engage, connect and support agricultural researchers working in international development. RAID was established in late 2013 by a group of young scientists from around Australia who saw a need to link young researchers working in developing countries, and to promote international agricultural research as part of an Australian ag career.

RAID has recently launched a website www.raidaustralia.net that provides an online platform for knowledge and resource sharing, promoting opportunities (employment, further study, volunteer posts) and for sharing experiences. Members can log on to contribute blog posts, share photos, advertise events and access resources. The network also hosts a facebook group, or you can follow us on twitter @RAIDNetwork. The success of RAID will depend on the ideas, knowledge and enthusiasm of our members, so we encourage anyone who is interested to get involved. Membership is free, and you can sign up via the website.

RAID will also host events in each state to provide opportunities for researchers to meet other scientists working on similar projects.

So get in touch, get involved and let’s help each other develop projects, ideas and careers in international agricultural research!!! See you soon.
