Welcome to the HealthyLaws Project
The HealthyLaws project explores the use of regulation and law to promote healthy eating and physical activity for the maintenance of healthy weight in children.
It examines the ways in which regulation and law have been used to this end in Australia and overseas including food labelling measures, taxes on soft drinks, food procurement policies in schools and hospitals , food reformulation to reduce fat or sugar content and regulation of food advertising.
We research and write about the facilitators and impediments to effective policy development and implementation for obesity prevention and community views on the use of regulation and law for this purpose.
