Getting a sense of how obesity trends are looking globally gives a whole new perspective on the extent of the problem. The recently published Global Burden of Disease Study 2013 provides some sobering facts and figures and provides not only an up-to-date picture of increases in prevalence of overweight and obesity worldwide but also highlights the urgency for decision-making to curb current trends.
