New York City’s Board of Health has been silenced by the New York State Court of Appeals in a 4-to-2 decision against limiting sales of jumbo sugary drinks, as reported in the New York Times. This is a huge victory for the American soft drink industry and a difficult day for New Yorkers wanting to address a serious public health threat as well as for those worldwide who looked to New York for change.
