The revised HSW Handbook Chapter ‘HSW Induction’ has now been posted on the HSW Website.
Changes to note
The key changes to the chapter are:
- To ensure the Hazard Listing (i.e. “Static” high risk activities (see the Hazard Management chapter), is incorporated in the induction program to the specific area (where applicable).
- The requirements for any health monitoring/testing is to be considered and managed in accordance with the HSW Handbook 3.36 Noise & Sound Safety Management or 3.19 Chemical Safety Management during induction.
- Schools/Branches have the choice to either include the information provided in the HSW Web-based induction “Start Healthy, Stay Safe” in the Local Induction program or the new worker may complete the induction on-line (as per the current arrangement).
- There is no longer a requirement to maintain a separate record for the HSW Web-based induction on the School/Branch Training Needs Analysis. This has now been captured in the Local Induction Record (Appendix A.)
