Workforce Management Policy and Procedures

The Workforce Management Policy and Procedures, have been approved by the Vice-Chancellor and President and are now available on the HR Website.

The key changes to note in these policies and procedures include:

Workforce Management Policy

  • The leave entitlements delegations have been transferred from the Remuneration and Employment Benefits policy.
  • The Special Studies Leave policy principles have been transferred to the Workforce Management Policy.  (The Special Studies Leave policy and guidelines will be superseded and combined into a procedure.)
  • The Leaving the University policy principles have been transferred to the Workforce Management Policy.  (The Leaving the University policy will be superseded.)
  • Pre-retirement, termination and re-employment delegations have been added to the policy, from the Leaving the University Policy, which is now superseded.
  • A new policy principle for casual conversion has been added (as per feedback provided by the NTEU for the Casual Employment procedure.)

Flexi-time Procedure

  • Minor edits.  Rewording to clarify existing arrangements.

Voluntary Flexible Work Arrangements Procedure

  • Minor edits in particular to the application forms.  Rewording to clarify existing arrangements.
  • Separate Compressed Weeks and Purchased leave procedures to be superseded as the information in these procedures is identical to the VFWA procedure.

Leaving the University Procedure

  • The requirement to complete the Leaving the University checklist has been removed and the checklist will be an information sheet only.

Managing Staff Excess Leave Accruals Procedure

  • Revised actions have been included for the Supervisor to:
    • monitor excess leave via Staff Services Online (SSO); and
    • ensure a leave plan is in place via SSO to reduce excess leave.
  • Provision of templates to guide Supervisors/Managers should leave not be taken/agreed by the staff member (Appendices A – D).
  • The requirement for the Faculty/Division Finance Manager to extract leave reports through the workforce analytics dashboard to actively monitor excess leave balances and report to the Head of School/Branch to ensure a leave plan is effected.

Pre-retirement Contract Procedure

  • Minor edits.  Rewording to clarify existing arrangements.

Leave Entitlement Procedure

  • Minor edits.  Rewording to clarify existing arrangements.
