ICFS Appoints new Director: David White

David White is the new Director of the International Centre for Financial Services at the University of Adelaide.

For over 30 years, David’s career has been in financial markets and services. He has been a company secretary (of Argo Investments Limited), a natural person member of ASX, an executive director of a stockbroking firm, a senior national manager with ASX in the areas of listed company supervision and market surveillance and more recently was chief executive officer of financial advisory firm Prescott Securities Limited for a six year period. He also holds a number of non-executive director positions.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Adelaide and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from FINSIA (National Dux). He lectured for Kaplan, FINSIA and the Securities Institute of Australia from 1982 to 2010, specialising in licensing of market participants, conduct of securities business and market offences. During his 10 years with ASX, he held the positions of National Manager Admissions and Waivers, National Manager Continuous Disclosure and National Manager Surveillance Operations and was responsible for referring numerous suspected significant market breaches to ASIC for further investigation.

David is a past president of the South Australian division of the SIA (now Finsia) and was a councillor for 26 years. He was made a Life Member of Finsia in 2002.
