CISA 2014 National Conference – Attendance Scholarships

CISA is the peak national student representative organisation for international students studying at the postgraduate, undergraduate, private college, TAFE, ELICOS and foundation level. They represent and advocate for the interests and needs of all international students on a broad number of topics, such as accommodation, immigration, employment/work rights, quality education, access to education, and travel concessions. The CISA National Conference – ‘Engage Locally, Connect Nationally’

To be held from 7 July – 11 July 2014, the conference will give attendees the opportunity to debate, learn, and discuss the student voice in a demand-driven system; how to increase social cohesion with the wider community; the Australian Government and future of the sector; a Good Practice Guide for education providers; the meaning of multiculturalism in Australia; and the maintenance and enhancement of the quality of the student experience as a priority to help build Australia’s reputation as a premium study destination. Conference Highlights

The highlights of the 2014 national conference will be inclusive of the following:

>    Address by special guest revered Ela Gandhi, granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi and patron for International Centre of Non-violence Australia

>    Launch of “Welcome Dinner Project”, a partner project for CISA’s “I am not Australian, but I have an Australian Story”

>    CISA Gala Dinner, to be held at the National Wine Centre

>    CISA Excellence Awards

>    Multicultural Night Market

>    Conference workshops focusing on training students on leadership, project management, professional development, successful board meetings and communication

Funding Support

The University of Adelaide will provide scholarships to enable 15 students to attend the conference and seeks applications from interested students. Applications must include:

>    Evidence of involvement in student leadership and/or volunteer and student programs;

>    Evidence of academic achievement;

>    A statement demonstrating how conference participation would help you or other students.
