Aussie word of the week – Specky

Every week in the International Student Support newsletter, we introduce a new Aussie word or phrase that will help you speak just like an Aussie.

With the Australia Football League;s (AFL) 2018 season starting this week, our phrase for Week 4 2018 is: to take a specky. This means: ‘to take a spectacular mark’ (sub-definition: a ‘mark’ is when a player catches the ball after a kick without it bouncing).

Example: “Eddie just took a specky inside 50!”
