The Personal Property Securities Act (PPSA) has been in operation since January 2012. Last year there was a statutory review (the Whittaker review) which has recommended significant changes, particularly to the Register. This session will highlight the likely reforms to be introduced this year, as well as focus on recent amendments and key case law developments.

David Brown teaches and researches in property law, insolvency and secured transactions and is co-author of the new (2nd) edition of Duggan and Brown, Australian Personal Property Securities Law (LexisNexis). He is a consultant to AFSA on PPSA and has presented to professional bodies, accountants, banks and government on the topic, as well as at the University of Oxford and other overseas for a. He also has experience in teaching and working on PPSA in New Zealand and Canada. His intensive weekend Masters course, Personal Property Security Law, takes place at Adelaide Law School in May 2016.
