The Adelaide Law School is delighted to announce that Professor Melissa de Zwart has accepted the offer of the position of Dean of Law from February 2017.
Professor Melissa de Zwart has been part of the Adelaide Law School since 2011. She joined academia from legal practice in 1996, teaching in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the Law School, Monash University, where she developed several new courses including Internet Law and Technology Contracts. Prior to this she was Legal Manager, CSIRO, where she developed an interest in laws affecting technology and innovation, and in particular, regulation of the online environment. Melissa was awarded a a BA (Hons), LL.B (Hons) and LL.M from the University of Melbourne and a PhD from Monash University. She also has a Grad Cert Higher Ed (Monash) and a Grad Cert Online Learning (Adelaide) and has received several teaching awards. She has served as a Member of the Commonwealth Government’s Classification Review Board, and is currently the Editor of the Media & Arts Law Review and the Deputy Director of RUMLAE (Research Unit for Military Law and Ethics). Her research interests include copyright, surveillance, online communities and space law.
