Maria Espinosa will speak about the creative sources of writing, the need for the writer’s ‘crazy child’ to be given totally free rein in the first phase of writing and the difficulties that can arise in transferring that vision to publication. Maria is visiting the University’s Creative Writing Program from California where she has held a number of academic positions. She is the author of four novels, including Longing, which received an American Book Award and a sequel, Dying Unfinished, which received a PEN literary excellence award.
