Theses Digitisation Project at University Libraries

University Libraries are currently undertaking a project to provide electronic access to all postgraduate research theses.

Since 2007, graduating postgraduate research students have been asked to submit an electronic copy of their thesis for inclusion in the University’s digital research repository, Adelaide Research and Scholarship for open access (unless embargoed). This promotes the University’s collective research and makes it openly accessible to as wide an audience as possible. This is part of a widespread movement in the sector towards open access.

There are approximately 4,500 research theses which were completed before 2007 that are not available electronically. These works have not had the exposure that would allow them to contribute to the light of new knowledge and research.

The Library has begun to digitise and make all research theses available online. In addition to providing open access, it also aids the long term preservation and accessibility of these valuable resources.

For more information, or if you completed a research thesis before 2007 and do not want it to be openly accessible please contact the Library’s Project Team.
