Welcome PhD Candidate – Mr Prabin Gyawali – Cardio-metabolic health

We are very pleased to welcome to Australia and to the Freemasons Foundation Centre for Men’s Health, Prabin Gyawali.

Prabin was awarded an International Postgraduate Research Scholarship funded jointly by the Australian Government and the University of Adelaide.  His research program is titled “Sex hormone binding globulin: Regulation and role as an indicator of metabolic risk” and his supervisors are Professor Gary Wittert, Dr Sean Martin and Associate Professor Leonie Heilbronn.  Prabin is based at SAHMRI.

Since September 2009, Prabin has worked in both a clinical and academic role at the Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences and Dhulikhel Hospital-Kathmandu University Hospital, Dhulikhel, Nepal as Lecturer and Clinical Biochemist. Most relevant to his PhD proposal, Prabin is a team member and co-investigator of the Dhulikhel Heart Study, the first population study on cardiovascular disease in Nepal.  We wish Prabin all the best for his research.
